12 th South Asian Games 2016
The South Asian Games, a multisport event, is the regional games or the Olympic Council of Asia. It was first hosted by Kathmandu, Nepal in the year 1984.
This is presently joined by the eight south Asian Country namely Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives , Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
There were 23 sport disciplines for 12 th south Asian Games of which 16 was held in Guwahati (Assam) and 7 in Shillong (Meghalaya).

The Theme song of South Asian Games is
"Ei Prithibi Ek Krirangan" - Which is literally trasnlates to "The world is a Play Ground" was written by Dr.Bhupen Hazarika a notable personality of India.
