4 February: World Cancer Day

Every year World Cancer Day (WCD) is being observed on 4 February across the world to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. The theme (tagline) for year 2016 WCD is “We can. I can”.

Union Government sets up two committees to ensure consistency in tax policies


The Union Government has constituted two new committees namely Tax Policy Research Unit (TPRU) and Tax Policy Council ,to streamline the taxation policy and administration.

Aruna Sethi appointed as first women head of Indian Cost Accounting Service

Mrs. Aruna Sethi has been appointed as head of Indian Cost Accounts Service (ICoAS).


  About Indian Cost Accounts Service (ICoAS)

ICoAS is one of the six Organized Accounting Services of the Union Government.
 It was constituted in 1978 and is comparatively young Accounting Service. It is a professional body staffed by qualified Cost/ Chartered Accountants.
 This Office is responsible for advising the Union Ministries and Government Undertakings on matters related to cost accounts and on their behalf undertakes cost investigation work.


Maharashtra announces Babasaheb Ambedkar Special Group Incentives Scheme
 
Maharashtra government has announced Bharatratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Special Collective Incentive Scheme for the economically backward Dalit entrepreneurs. Decision in this regard was taken by state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai.
